About Gong cha - Chinatown

Located at 917 Arch St, Philadelphia, PA 19107, Gong cha - Chinatown operates as a bubble tea shop serving Philadelphia in Pennsylvania. This page gathers the practical details people usually look for before visiting: where it is, how to reach it, when it opens and how customers rate it.

Tea in the United States covers everything from a traditional Chinese or Japanese tea house to a Southern sweet-tea counter, and the fastest-growing segment is bubble tea: Taiwanese-style milk teas and fruit teas with tapioca pearls, sold by chains and independents alike with adjustable sugar and ice levels. Tea rooms serving afternoon tea with scones and sandwiches usually require a reservation, while boba shops, juice bars and smoothie shops are walk-in and quick. Kava and kombucha bars are a newer category, and loose-leaf tea stores sell blends, teaware and gifts, often with a tasting counter. Prices for a drink run similar to coffee-shop prices, with premium teas and cold-pressed juices at the high end.

The business lists hours on 7 days of the week. The most common schedule is 11 am–9 pm. As with most places, expect changes around holidays; the phone number below is the fastest way to confirm. You can reach Gong cha - Chinatown at (267) 606-7797; calling is usually the quickest way to ask about availability, prices or directions. Its website is gongchausa.com, where you may find menus, price lists or booking options.

On Google it holds a rating of 4.6 out of 5 from 255 reviews, which is a strong result for a bubble tea shop in Philadelphia and suggests consistent service.

Philadelphia is in Pennsylvania, in the Northeast, where four distinct seasons shape local life: hot humid summers, snowy winters that can close businesses for a day, and a dense pattern of towns where walking, transit and street parking all matter. Traffic in Philadelphia peaks on weekday mornings and afternoons, so allow extra time then. Addresses read from the street number up to the city, state abbreviation and five-digit ZIP code; the map link on this page shows the exact spot.

The saleswoman was very rude and unprofessional. I even asked for advice about the drink, but she stayed silent and didn’t help at all. On top of that, she gave me a different drink than the one I actually ordered. I left upset and without my drink. Very disappointing experience.

One of my favorite boba places. Great boba ratio, and their warm drinks are great in the winter time. Wheelchair accessible.

Today’s experience was extremely disappointing. The store clearly stated that it opens at 11:00 AM, yet customers were left standing outside for more than 10 minutes before the doors were opened. We ordered 5 QQ Passion Fruit drinks and 5 Aiyu drinks, but after returning to our workplace half an hour later, we discovered that none of the passion fruit drink toppings had been added β€” no pearls and no coconut jelly. We had to make a third trip back to the store just to address the mistake. The only female employee there had a very rude attitude. She aggressively told us that they β€œdon’t sell QQ” and even asked us what β€œQQ” was. We then pointed directly at the pearls, and only then did she refill the topping. Throughout the entire interaction, she was impatient and unfriendly, even slamming the toppings down on the counter, which felt extremely disrespectful. As paying customers, we were treated as if we owed her something. The service attitude from beginning to end was unacceptable. We definitely will not be coming back for bubble tea again.

So far been there once but I’ll go back. The woman there was helpful. I should have looked at her name tag so I don’t have to just say β€œthe woman”. But good experience so far.

Love gong cha. Like that the tea flavor is so much more profound than other bubble tea shops. The Christmas holiday cup is so cute. Theres no seating inside, just quick service to take away.
